Hi! My name is Jiwoo. I am a Korean animator based in Calgary, Alberta. My animation work is surreal, whimsical, and a little unhinged. My artistic practice focuses on reimagining everyday experiences and struggles in a surreal and comical way. For example, my student film explored a man struggling to fall asleep because he is counting too many sheep in his head.
My debut film, Cowman, follows a farmer and his cow who are abducted by aliens and must navigate the aftermath of this traumatic experience through their love for one another.
Through my work, I aim to bring smiles to people's faces and tell difficult and embarrassing stories in a way that makes challenging situations feel more bearable.
